About the Advisor Program

The heart of the CleanLaunch Network is our registered advisors. Advisors give of their time to share experience and lessons learned, identify options, review, brainstorm, recommend, encourage, guide, and make introductions and referrals. They represent a wide array of industries and span virtually all areas of functional and technical expertise. Advisors include senior-level executives, experienced businessmen and women, prominent professionals and successful entrepreneurs.
  • Giving back by supporting and promoting entrepreneurship
  • Staying Informed
  • Networking and relationship building
  • Possible ongoing business relationships
  • Personal satisfaction from helping a client succeed
  • Fun! As one advisor said: “It’s a blast. It’s the most fun thing I do.
Our advisors sit on advisory panels with our clients.  We ask that each advisor donate 4 hours a month, give freely of their advice and experience, be responsive to an entrepreneur's needs, and not attempt to sell anything to the company during their commitment.  Engagement with an entrepreneur can last anywhere from 1 session to a year.

Advisor Roles:

Client Advisory Board:  New CleanLaunch clients build advisory boards that help guide a company through growth and with acute problem solving. This group is composed of 5-10 people who each have a senior level of functional-area expertise, and have held senior level positions within their industry. Time commitment is approximately 8-12 hours per quarter.

Senior Advisor:  These advisors have a deep level of expertise in a particular functional or industry specialty. These volunteers offer input in a variety of settings on an as-needed basis.

Panel Member:  Functional panels consist of one or two sessions that meet with specific objectives in mind such as helping an entrepreneur structure a financing deal, or examining specific go-to-market strategies. Advisors in these areas tend to have focused expertise and must be willing to donate 2-3 hours per meeting for about 2 meetings with some preliminary preparation time.

Advocate:  Client advocates function as an extension of the CleanLaunch staff. They work directly with a client ensuring their needs are being met, advisory boards have the proper consistency, and the advisor database is utilized when needed. While advocates do not typically need to have deep functional expertise in any one area, a broad understanding of entrepreneurship is desired. The typical time commitment is approximately 2 hours a week, as an advocate should work weekly with a client.

Who We Seek To Become Advisors:  CleanLaunch seeks advisors with backgrounds relevant to early-stage businesses - people who have the knowledge, experience and "lessons learned" that can be helpful to entrepreneurs. We seek executives, senior managers, successful entrepreneurs, industry or functional experts and professionals who are motivated to share their knowledge and contacts with entrepreneurs. When volunteering on an advisory board, you need to be able to donate 2-4 hours a month to work with an entrepreneur and must be comfortable sharing your expertise in an advisory board setting.
