The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is the nation's primary laboratory for renewable energy and energy efficiency research and development (R&D).

NREL's mission and strategy are focused on advancing the U.S. Department of Energy's and our nation's energy goals. The laboratory's scientists and researchers support critical market objectives to accelerate research from scientific innovations to market-viable alternative energy solutions. At the core of this strategic direction are NREL's research and technology development areas. These areas span from understanding renewable resources for energy, to the conversion of these resources to renewable electricity and fuels, and ultimately to the use of renewable electricity and fuels in homes, commercial buildings, and vehicles. The laboratory thereby directly contributes to our nation's goal for finding new renewable ways to power our homes, businesses, and cars.

Burt Automotive has been in the automotive retail, service, and parts business in the Denver metro area for almost 70 years. Burt Automotive was founded in 1939 by Nate B. Burt. In 1951, Mr. Lloyd G. Chavez started in the sales department at Burt Chevrolet on Broadway. Over the following 35 years, Mr. Chavez acquired Burt Chevrolet, Burt Toyota, and Burt Subaru from the Burt family.

In 2007, the Burt Automotive Network had combined sales of $2.1 billion, generated from the sales of over 100,000 vehicles. Burt is one of the largest Hispanic-owned businesses in the United States. Burt is the largest minority-owned and operated automotive dealer group.

The Colorado Renewable Energy Collaboratory works with public agencies, industry partners, and other universities and colleges to:  Develop renewable energy products and technologies for rapid transfer to the marketplace; Support economic growth with renewable energy industries; Educate the finest energy researchers, technicians, and workforce.

The Collaboratory is a research partnership among the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and Colorado's premier research universities—Colorado State University, the University of Colorado at Boulder, and the Colorado School of Mines.

Colorado Governor Bill Ritter, Jr., issued an Executive Order on April 16, 2007, re-creating the Governor’s Office of Energy Management and Conservation (originally created in 1977 to promote energy conservation in Colorado) as the Governor’s Energy Office (GEO). The GEO's mission is to lead Colorado to a New Energy Economy by advancing energy efficiency and renewable, clean energy resources.

The New Energy Economy embraces energy conservation as an important component in our energy future, yet requires a broader mission to meet the goals of expanding renewable and clean energy resources and opportunities for the state’s economy, environment and energy independence.

The GEO recognizes the critical role it will play in charting Colorado’s leading role in the provision of clean and renewable forms of energy. The GEO works with communities, utilities, private and public organizations, and individuals to promote renewable energy such as wind, solar, and geothermal, and energy efficiency technologies in commercial and residential buildings. The New Energy Economy will benefit Colorado by bringing jobs and protecting our natural environment.

CORE is the oldest and largest trade association in the Rocky Mountain region dedicated to promoting sustainable business practices and a more responsible global economy. CORE is supported by membership fees and sponsorships from its 200+ member organizations, which range from large corporations to entrepreneurial ventures.
